Heinz Meyer grew up with horses and in his youth participated successfully in show jumping as well as dressage competitions. He is also a highly qualified academic with a degree in psychology and a PhD in sociology, the field in which he subsequently qualified as a professor and taught at the universities of Aachen and Wuppertal.
For over forty years he reported for equestrian magazines on competitive sport at international level, particularly dressage, and wrote numerous articles on the theory of riding as well as the practical aspects of training a horse. He was chief editor and later staffer at "St. Georg" as well as hippological consultant at "Reiter Revue". Recently he has published articles particularly in veterinary maganzines. His books include the following titles: "Mensch und Pferd", "Der Mensch und das Tier", "Geschichte der Reiterkrieger", "Das Erlebnis Reiten", "Reiten und Ausbilden", "Schmerz, Heißbrand und Transponder" as well as "The Implantation of Transponders in Saddle Horses".
